Earlier this month, SEPTA riders were hit with fare increases across the system. But attorney George Bochetto of Bochetto & Lentz believes those hikes were not lawfully enacted. According to a recent CBS News Philadelphia report, our firm is preparing a class action lawsuit seeking refunds for SEPTA riders.
Under Pennsylvania law, SEPTA is required to provide the public with an opportunity to ask questions and receive answers at public hearings before implementing fare increases. However, as Attorney Bochetto explained, SEPTA failed to meet these obligations. Video evidence shows consumer advocate Lance Haver repeatedly asking funding questions during a hearing—only to be ignored and eventually removed. Such actions disregard the statute and riders’ rights.
Bochetto & Lentz is committed to making sure SEPTA riders are treated fairly and lawfully. The forthcoming class action suit will seek refunds for affected riders and hold SEPTA accountable to its statutory obligations.
