Philadelphia, PA – The law firm of Bochetto & Lentz is proud to announce a landmark victory in the case of former Assistant District Attorney Beth McCaffery, who has been fully exonerated from baseless allegations of prosecutorial misconduct made by Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner’s office.
In a ruling by Judge Anne Marie Coyle, McCaffery was cleared of accusations that she withheld evidence in the 2008 murder case of Dontia Patterson. Judge Coyle stated that the allegations were “maliciously intended” and lacked any good faith basis. The court further criticized the DA’s office for a “documented pattern of bad faith and abuse of authority.”
The legal team representing McCaffery was led by Bryan Lentz and included George Bochetto, Kean Maynard, and Ryan Kirk. Together, they worked tirelessly to expose the truth and restore McCaffery’s reputation.
“This ruling is not only a vindication for Beth McCaffery but also a critical reminder of the need for integrity in our justice system,” said Bryan Lentz.
Judge Coyle imposed $120,000 in fines on Krasner’s office and ordered professional conduct training for its staff. The ruling highlighted intentional mishandling of documents by the DA’s office, which obstructed McCaffery’s ability to defend herself. Beth McCaffery expressed relief and gratitude, stating, “After seven long years, I am grateful to finally have my name cleared. I thank my outstanding legal team for their unwavering support.”
