David Heim joined Bochetto & Lentz  in 1999.  His practice is focused on complex civil litigation.  David services many of the firm’s corporate and individual clients on various litigation matters such as defamation, constitutional law, commercial litigation, medical malpractice, and catastrophic injury cases.  David was recently certified as a member of the Million Dollar Advocate’s Forum, whose membership is limited to attorneys with million and multi-million dollar verdicts, awards and settlements.  Some of the more significant cases on which David worked are:

 

 

·         Civil fraud and breach of contract case involving historic boxing films, resulting in $2.75 million recovery.  

 

·         Warehouse accident involving catastrophic injury from negligent operation of forklift, resulting in a $2.225 million recovery.

 

·         Catastrophic car accident case involving traumatic brain injuries, resulting in tender of policy limits in the amount of $1.515 million.

 

·         Franklin Prescriptions, Inc. v. The New York Times Company, 267 F.Supp.2d 425 (E.D. Pa. 2003)(jury verdict finding New York Times defamed local business)

 

·         In re Condemnation Proceedings, 938 A.2d 341 (Pa. 2007)(appeal to Supreme Court on issue of first impression involving separation of church and state)

 

·         Nutter v. Dougherty, 938 A.2d 401 (Pa. 2007)(appeal to Supreme Court regarding state preemption of local municipal campaign finance laws)

 

·         Echols v. Pelullo, 377 F.3d 272 (3d Cir. 2004)(appeal on novel interpretation of boxing promotional agreements)

 

Bar Admissions:  David was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1999, and to the New Jersey Bar in 2001. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court of New Jersey, the United States Court of Appeals, Third Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit.

 

Education:  David graduated magna cum laude from Rutgers College, New Brunswick, in 1996, with a B.A. in Political Science and Economics.  He earned his J.D. from Rutgers-Camden School of Law in 1999. 

 

While in law school, David was the overall champion and won the Best Brief Award in the  Hunter Moot Court Competition.  He was selected as Rutgers’ representative in the National Moot Court Competition, where he was a quarter-finalist and won a top-five brief award.  David was also selected as a board member on Rutgers’ Moot Court Board, received the Excellence in Litigation Award and Scholarship from the Center for Forensic Economic Studies, and the Pro Bono Services Award.
